Kendra Coppey Fitzgerald
Kendra, the Director and Founder of Barefoot Tiger, has been active from a young age, spending many years dancing in the backyard and on stages in Atlanta. Always fascinated by the human body, she discovered yoga, weightlifting, running, rock-climbing and a myriad of other fun stuff during her college career at the University of Georgia.
After earning a degree in International Business from UGA, Kendra moved to New York City where she spent several years in the corporate world. Working with busy, overworked professionals and being one herself, she quickly realized that her true calling lay in helping others tune into the power of their own bodies and finding their own rhythm.
Kendra has made it her life’s calling to help people find their individual love of fitness and wellness with a fun and lighthearted perspective. She believes education is paramount to living a healthy life, and loves the ‘ah ha!’ moment her students experience when they learn something new about their bodies. The best part of the the work? Seeing her clients become teachers as well – teaching everyone they know about what they’ve learned and inspiring others to be healthy too. Kendra currently teaches yoga privately, and runs workshops and lectures in corporations around New York City on healthy eating, fitness and yoga.

What drives you every day?
Seeing the ripple effect of people getting themselves healthy and then helping others do it too gets me up every morning. It is such a joy to watch my clients discover things they never knew about themselves and then be so excited that they want to teach it to everyone they know. It’s infectious!
What traits in others are you attracted to?
Honesty, respect for others and their opinions, valuing personal connection and relationships, and a hunger for knowledge through education and experience.
Do you have any nicknames?
My 2-year old niece calls me “Aunt Kenny.”
If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would it be and who would it be with?
I would go to Hawaii with my partner Chris – it’s a sublime and magical place and I couldn’t imagine being there with anyone else!
What do you do in your free time?
I do yoga!! Seriously, I love to cook and eat healthy food (and yes, I do eat non-healthy food like vegan cupcakes), go running in Central Park, spend time with friends and…more yoga!
What is your ultimate wish?
To see the ripple effect of health and happiness take hold into our future generations. We have the power to make it happen, by working on ourselves first and helping others (and our children!) do the same.
What is your favorite saying?
“If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” ~ Henry Ford
What is something people would probably like to know about you?
I spent a year studying in France and speak French fluently, and my parents own a winery in Alabama (of all places!)
